If You Were A Tree What Kind of Tree Would You Be?

Sometime the characters a reader finds interesting are not the main players in the story. In writing I am placing a good deal of focus on character development, not only for main characters but for every individual who plays a part in the account. The main players here are as follows; Anton, Amanda, Emil, Emily,  Karl, Peter, Willow, and Wolfgang.
I’m not going to tell you about any of them.

The first character I want to introduce is Sigurd. Sigurd is not a main character but he is a key and pivotal piece of the Kaminski family legacy. Sigurd, you see, is the keeper of the story. He is the young neighbour to Karl as they each establish their homesteads. He is a guiding friend to Wolfgang and Amanda when they arrive to Alberta. He is a mentor to Anton and Emily. He is there from beginning to end. Sigurd is an engaged and cheerful man who lives with his wife Ingrid in the foothills of the Alberta Rockies. Sigurd represents the strong roots of the tree holding to the river banks as the story flows through the landscape. We didn’t come here to see this tree, we came to see the river. He is, I hope, a guy who seems like family the moment you meet him. He has a warm smile and a welcoming reach.

I hope you enjoy meeting Sigurd, and all of the other characters I have been creating for “The Life of Trees”.

Christine
